A few things to comment on in the startup world today:
- Amazon has narrowed their Startup Challenge down to 7 contestants. If you are not familiar with this challenge, here is a blurb from Amazon:
“Amazon Web Services (AWS) is searching for the next hot start-up that is leveraging AWS to build its infrastructure and business. We have chosen seven finalists and the winner will receive $50,000 in cash, $50,000 in AWS credits, and an investment offer from Amazon.”
- The Seattle Startup Index for December has been published.
“The 2007 Crunchies is our first annual competition and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the most compelling startups, internet and technology innovations of the year. The Crunchies is a collaboration project between GigaOm, Read/WriteWeb, VentureBeat and TechCrunch. Best of all, the internet community is invited to choose who wins.”
